Secret Santa 2010
We’re all doing Secret Santa at work tomorrow! Finally got my gift ready! *phew* I am, although, having trouble with the card. I have NO idea what to write. Would a simple “Merry Christmas from your Secret Santa” suffice? Hmmm…
We’re all thinking of getting gifts for the cleaners who manage to keep our office spaces spotless, work 14 hours a day and still manage to brighten up our days with their sweet SWEET smiles. This one’s for you, Aranjay <3
I’m extremely excited to see everyone’s reactions!
*does his soon-to-be-famous boogie dance*
May you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Good or Bad?

“Do you think that you’re a good person?”
Have you ever asked someone this question? Have you ever asked yourself?
Sometimes we try to be candid, honest, and truthful.. and sometimes we’d just be kidding ourselves. But the truth of the matter is, that no matter how hard we try to rip off that “mask” that we either intentionally, unintentionally, or think we hide behind, it always seems to snap back onto our skin. Maybe it’s because some of us have clung to it so hard that it’s become a part of us, or maybe.. just maybe.. it’s been a part of us all along. Is it natural healthy duality, or is it hypocrisy? Are we all just good at being bad?
Whoever is reading this might be thinking, right now, what the hell is this guy going on about?
Well, I’ll tell you..
I’ve recently got to meet and know a couple of new people, I might not know them very well, but from what I’ve seen (from at least one of them) this person is one of the most honest and open people I have ever met. This person’s down to Earth, respectful, intelligent, and above all very sincere. He/She’s not the type of person that would simply lie just to save face, or put on a mask just to gain validity when it comes to social interaction. They’re by no means a nasty, ill-mannered person… on the contrary.. they’re very refined, elegant, and sophisticated. They’re also comfortable with who they are. They don’t strive for social acceptance, but have transcended above and beyond that.
No one’s perfect, and we all have our faults, but I believe that if we stay true to ourselves and embrace our faults, it makes us productive, proactive, good individuals. This person might never read this blog post, nor will he/she know about the positive effect their words have had on me. But there’s no denying the fact that they’re are still good, smart, stable, balanced people in the world.
A friend of mine once said that “bad people never take a day off” then asked “but why are the good always on leave?”
I implore all of you to think about everything. Put all those stereotypes, prejudices, and issues aside, and reflect.. on everything.
Until we all reach nirvana, I hope we all enjoy the road to enlightenment. (lol, doesn’t really suit me ;p)
Take care and stay safe everyone.
It’s been four months since…

It’ll be four months tomorrow since my last post on March 7th 2010, my first day at work. It’s been an amazing four months. I’ve learned a lot, and.. “ugh”.. GREW! :S Well, sort of!
Anyway! Work’s amazing!
Here’s the Gist (a rather long one
):
- My Colleagues: Brilliant! Ok, most of them are at least. But, like at every job, there has to be a couple of freaks just asking to have their asses kicked. The other three Teaching Assistant with me are just amazing! Words wouldn’t be able to even begin to describe how amazing they really are. All four of us went to KU together. They’re more than just friends; they’re family!
(Aw! :$). My coordinator is just phenomenal! She’s one of the most hardworking people I know. The other two coordinators are brilliant as well. Most of the instructors we’re working with are amazing. Again, we all feel like one big happy family, with the usual dysfunctional individuals. LOL!
- Confession Time: I really feel useless at the moment. I feel as if I’m not giving it my all. It’s true that there isn’t much to do.. with the students having the summer off.. but still. I’ve also been coming in late (15-20 minutes late :$) the past few weeks. I really need to start making up for it!
- SOME Students and Faculty Members: While some students (and instructors) try to lead a life of quiet mediocrity, others either try to assimilate or rebel through harmonious or horrible choices and decisions. It just shocks me how such a large number of students are just asserting the social misconceptions and stereotypes of Kuwaitis/Arabs by being asses! I’m beginning to wonder how and why such a large (not that large, but noticeably substantial) group of hollow shells of human beings are allowed to exist, and if I should start using the term hideous heterogeneity instead of cultural diversity when referring to the general student population.
Many students are amazingly brilliant! It’s not uncommon to find hardworking, competent, serious, academically-thriving individuals. I can literally name hundreds at work! But some of those daft bimbos and half-baked idiots, who share the same ludicrous delusions of both grandeur and importance, just prompt emotional and physical reactions! Oh, God. It’s just that the mind numbing shallowness of some students, and their never-ending desire for attention has given them this sense of entitlement that… AAAAAH!!! Ok.. I can’t talk about that anymore!!! I’m choosing to live in blissful ignorance and pray that their level of competence escalates.

- The Summer: So, anyway. Summer’s here!
Hope that everyone’s summer is filled with laughter, joy, and happiness! Whether you’re working or on vacation, I hope that it ends with fond memories and warm feelings! - Blogging: I’m gonna try, from now on, to not make promises I might not be able to keep. I really miss blogging, and want to keep of posting regularly. I still feel connected to this blog and find pleasure in jotting down my random thoughts.
I really want to start writing again. Even if I might not be great, I used to write for myself, but not anymore. - Health: I’ve been wanting to get back on the bandwagon, after having been off it for so long! I really need and want to start making healthy choices when it comes to food and exercise. Gym mebership expires in January 2011. MUST! GET! OFF! ASS.
- Travel and Art: I don’t have any immediate travel plans. Maybe in the fall or something; might head out to the States and Europe.
Oh, and I’m suddenly feeling artistic! After having been introduced to a blog of a local artist, I just have this urge to hit Mugahwi for some art supplies!
- Renovations: I’m thinking of renovating sometime after Ramadan. Most of my stuff is now in boxes, and I don’t have any more excuses to keep postponing it. I might visit the Kuwait Bookstore at Al-Muthana Complex to stock up on the most recent issues of decor magazines. Kashkhaaaa! *wink*
- Reading: Thinking of reading the entire Harry Potter series again in one go before Part 1 of the Deathly Hallows comes out in theaters. My amazon cart is overflowing; I’m going to need to do something about that as well. WOOHO! New books! *does his happy dance*
- Conclusion: So, that’s about it for now. I’ll try to keep posting, even when I’m at work. But for now, take care and stay safe everyone! ;D
P.S. applemaniac, I really miss your comments!
Sorry for not making a better effort at keeping in touch..
Oh, and PING! ;p
Ramblings of the Day
Ok, so this is gonna be a very quick and comprehensive post, so please forgive the atrocious grammar and the obvious spelling errors. ;p Those who aren’t familiar with the fact that I tend to ramble PLEASE STOP READING NOW! ;p
HOURS OF SLEEP LAST NIGHT:
3.5 hours of sleep. (that’s three and a half hours… I’m NOT a zombie! ;p)
Really tired now.. I’m heading off in a few minutes to reclaim the night! :p

FIRST DAY OF WORK:
I just got a position as a Teaching Assistant in an English Language Studies Program at one of the private educational institutes here in Kuwait, and my first day was amazing, thank God!
Everyone was so sweet and kind! The campus is so cosy and warm. (not THAT kind of warm.. Although, it was a bit stuffy in some of the offices today.) Oh, and the fact that three other TAs in the program were my former classmates back in Kuwait University is just icing on the cake! ;p It is truly a blessing!
Although I am very anxious, I am EXTREMELY excited about the journey I have embarked upon. Pursuing my M.A. and Ph.D. IS my ultimate goal, and hopefully, I will be able to reap all the benefits of this position, so that I can strengthen and add to the skills and talents I have acquired from my B.A. degree.
Wish me luck guys! ;D

OSCARS IN A FEW HOURS:
As some of you probably know by now, FOX MOVIES is set to air the 82nd Academy Awards “Bringing Drama And Action Of Oscar Night Live To Middle East’s Movie Lovers” (dubaicityguide.com).
The LIVE EVENT will begin at 4:00 AM (Kuwait Time)!
Excited?
I’m probably gonna be snoozing at that hour, so I’m gonna miss most of the show, so I’ll just download it as soon as someone generously uploads it online ;p
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find sources that are expected to stream the event online. (that’s cos I’m too lazy to look for a source other than Ustream.tv ;p)

CAR NEEDS TO GET SERVICED:
I really have to take my car to the garage to have it serviced. ;p That’s it! ;p

The New Porsche Cayenne
2011 Porsche Cayenne (Turbo) – Click above for a high-res image
Since many people have posted about the new Porsche Cayenne, I figured I’d give my two cents about the new models.
For the specifics, please click on one of the following Links:
I have mixed feelings about the new Cayenne, not that any of the old ones were groundbreaking in design. ;p
I find myself drawn to it as well as questioning wether or not the “parts” compliment the “whole”. The front seems ok, but feels like it lost its ferocity. Now the rear end of the vehicle is another story. While most people might think that it looks unattractive, I believe it’s a definite improvement. It’s clean, soft, compact, and not too pretentious. The interior has also improved, in my opinion, according to design. It just seems more clean-cut and organized.
So, what do you guys think? And I’m not just asking Porsche fanatics, I’m asking anyone interested in car aesthetics.
Take care and stay safe guys!
